How to Apply

• Introduction

  For best results, use the recommended White Knight products and follow the step-by-step guide below.

  Preparation

  Preparation is the most important part of this project. Skipping or rushing this step will lead to coating failure.

  1. Clean the surface thoroughly

  • Remove all dirt, dust, grease and oil

  • Degrease any contaminated areas (especially in garages)

  • Rinse well and allow to fully dry

  2. Check for moisture

  • Surface must be completely dry before painting

  • Do not apply after rain or if moisture is present in the slab

  3. Etch smooth concrete

  • Use White Knight Ultra Pave Concrete Etcher on smooth or dense concrete

  • This opens the surface and allows the paint to bond properly

  • Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry

  4. Prepare previously painted surfaces

  • Sand glossy areas to remove sheen

  • Remove all loose, flaking or peeling paint

  5. Final check

  • Surface should feel clean, dry and slightly rough (not smooth or sealed)

  Application

  Paint Preparation

  • Stir thoroughly for at least 5 minutes before use and re stir regularly

  • Apply 2 full coats using brush, roller or spray

  First Coat (Critical for adhesion)

  • On bare concrete, thin with 10% mineral turpentine

  • Apply evenly and do not over stretch the paint

  Second Coat

  • Apply unthinned

  • Add Ultra Pave Grip Additive for slip resistance, especially on driveways or external areas

  Application Tips

  • Work in sections to maintain a wet edge

  • Avoid thick or uneven application

  • Do not apply in direct hot sun or onto hot concrete

  • Do not apply if temperature is below 10°C or above 30°C

  Applying too thick, too thin or onto poorly prepared surfaces will impact durability and finish.

  Coverage & Drying Time

  • Covers up to 14m² per litre per coat (under ideal conditions)

  • Coverage will vary depending on the surface:

    • Bare or porous concrete absorbs more paint (first coat uses more)

    • Rough or etched surfaces reduce coverage

    • Previously painted surfaces achieve closer to stated coverage

  • Always allow extra product for the first coat on bare concrete

  Drying times (based on 25°C and 50% humidity):

  • Touch dry: ~1 hour

  • Recoat: minimum 16 hours

  Factors that affect drying:

  • Cooler temperatures and high humidity will slow drying

  • Poor airflow can extend drying times

  • Thick or uneven coats may stay soft longer

  Do not rush recoating. Applying too early can lead to poor adhesion and reduced durability

  Curing and use:

  • Light foot traffic: after 4 days

  • Vehicle traffic: after 7 days minimum

  Avoid parking vehicles, water exposure or heavy use before full cure. Early use, especially from hot tyres, can cause coating failure.
