White Knight Rust Guard Quick Dry SLS Etch Primer is a specialist metal primer designed to deliver strong adhesion on non ferrous and difficult to coat surfaces. It chemically bonds to aluminium, galvanised iron and Zincalume®, creating a stable base for long lasting topcoat performance. Fast drying and easy to apply, it provides a rust inhibiting barrier and is recoatable between 2 to 24 hours, making it ideal for efficient project completion on challenging metal surfaces.

How to Apply

  • For best results, use the recommended White Knight products and follow the step-by-step guide below.
    • Remove all loose rust, flaking paint and surface contaminants

    • Ensure surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease, oil and contaminants

    • Lightly abrade smooth or glossy surfaces where required

    Designed for non-ferrous metals. Do not use on standard steel or over previously painted surfaces. Ideal for factory-coated substrates such as COLORBOND®.

    • Stir thoroughly for at least 5 minutes before use and during application

    • Apply 1 even coat by brush, roller or spray gun

    • When spraying, thin up to 10% with Rust Guard Solvent if required

    Apply thin, even coats to ensure proper bonding.

    Once the primer is fully dry (2-24 hours), apply a White Knight Rust Guard Epoxy Enamel topcoat to provide colour, durability and long term protection.

    Do not leave primer uncoated. Ensure you sand the primer before applying the topcoat.

    • Coverage: approximately 14m² per litre, depending on surface condition

    • Touch dry: 10 minutes

    • Recoat window: 2 to 24 hours

    Drying will be slower in cold, humid or low ventilation conditions. This drying time applies to the primer only.
